Margot is a Florid based, New England bred calligrapher who recently moved from Key West to Dunedin. A studio art major at Trinity College (CT) who focused on oil painting and architecture, Margot had zero interest in becoming a commercial artist. Upon graduating, she hopped aboard a 125’ traditionally-rigged schooner and sailed down to a tiny tropical island full of creativity. After a stint in the marine wood-working world, she became an eco tour guide and led people out into the mangroves, teaching them about the local ecosystem aboard kayaks and paddle boards. When not out on the water sailing and paddling, Margot would paint for fun, eventually channeling her artistic energy into learning the art of lettering. Margot decided to try her hand at dip pen calligraphy in 2016, exploring a variety of styles and mediums. She mainly specialized in weddings, decor, and restaurant/bar menus all over the island, slowly becoming comfortable putting her other artwork out there for sale, thanks to her little calligraphy business! She began teaching hand lettering in 2018 and has taught students from age 8 to 82, both virtually and in person. When not creating, Margot enjoys exploring her new area and eating all of the foods with her husband & toddler, snuggling her three-legged dog Fenway, and curling up with a good book. Margot starts her day with dessert and loves to letter on natural and recycled objects. You can see what she’s up to on Instagram or take a class with her in the Tampa Bay area!
