Modern Calligraphy & Pumpkin Lettering for Beginners at A Garden Party

Join Sip & ScriptⓇ for an Afternoon of Learning Calligraphy!

Join us at A Garden Party in Elmer, NJ for a festive workshop of spooky fun and pretty lettering for beginners! Whether you’re a stationery nerd, DIY Bride-to-be, or just a crafty individual, in this workshop you’ll be learning an introduction to modern calligraphy with a pointed dip pen and ink. We will cover all the basics and get you ready to add those special lettered details to all your spooky spreads — think lettered pumpkins at your front door, on your bar cart, as a Halloween party hostess gift or special occasion gift!

Class includes 1.5 hours of instruction and demonstration, our beginner’s calligraphy kit (two nibs, black ink pot, two letter guides, tracing paper, and straight pen holder), and all materials to write on. Everything is yours to keep at the end of the workshop! Additionally, we will be lettering on mini faux pumpkins in the second half of our workshop!

This workshop is being held in A Garden Party’s Event Barn. You’re welcome to bring whatever food and drinks you’d like to enjoy during our workshop. Make sure to save some time after the workshop or come a little early to browse A Garden Party’s gorgeous shop! Class will start promptly at 2 PM! 

Class Expectations: Yes, lefties are welcome too! This class is encouraged for someone who has never taken a calligraphy class before. We teach the basics and our expectation for you is to have ink flowing through your nib with enough confidence to be able to practice way beyond class. We love using tracing paper with our guides to help you build muscle memory and develop your own style!  If you have tried calligraphy out before, this class will be a great refresher and hopefully a chance to try some new supplies from our beginner kit that will re-introduce you to this lovely form of art!

A note on bringing guests 16 and under: We love to share this passion with kids. We do ask that anyone under the age of 16 is accompanied by a ticketed adult at all times.

A note from your instructor, Jena: Optional raffles are always a part of my workshops. If you bring a new item for me to add to a group donation to the animal shelter, I’ll give you a bonus entry for the raffle! Suggested items: dog/cat food, treats, litter, paper towels, leashes, toys.
