Modern Calligraphy & Ornament Lettering for Beginners at Blue Rascal Distillery (21+)

Join Sip & ScriptⓇ for a Night of Learning Calligraphy!

Join us at Blue Rascal Distillery in Hammonton, NJ, for a festive workshop of holiday fun and pretty lettering for beginners! Whether you’re a stationery nerd, DIY Bride-to-be, or just a crafty individual, in this workshop you’ll be learning an introduction to modern calligraphy with a pointed dip pen and ink. We will cover all the basics and get you ready to add those special lettered details to all your holiday tables, Christmas trees, hostess gifts, gift tags, holiday card mailings and more!

Class includes 1.5 hours of instruction and demonstration, our beginner’s calligraphy kit (two nibs, black ink pot, 2 letter guides, tracing paper and straight pen holder), and all materials to write on. Everything is yours to keep at the end of the workshop! Additionally, we will be lettering on a take-home flat acrylic ornament during the second half of our class!

Feel free to come early, grab your seat, and purchase a drink (outside food/snacks are permitted and drinks are available to purchase throughout the class, too!). Class will start promptly at 6:30 PM! 

Class Expectations: Yes, lefties are welcome too! This class is encouraged for someone who has never taken a calligraphy class before. We teach the basics and our expectation for you is to have ink flowing through your nib with enough confidence to be able to practice way beyond class. We love using tracing paper with our guides to help you build muscle memory and develop your own style!  If you have tried calligraphy out before, this class will be a great refresher and hopefully a chance to try some new supplies from our beginner kit that will re-introduce you to this lovely form of art!

A note on bringing guests 21 and under: While we love to share this passion with kids, Blue Rascal is a 21+ establishment. Please take a look at our other classes at all-ages venues!

A note from your instructor, Jena: Optional raffles are always a part of my workshops. If you bring a new donation for me to add to a group collection for the animal shelter, or for Toys for Tots, I’ll give you a bonus entry for the raffle! Suggested animal shelter items: dog/cat food, treats, litter, paper towels, leashes. For Toys for Tots, new, unwrapped items only, please.
