Level 02: Pointed Pen Calligraphy at Indigo and Violet Studio ,Chicago

Join Sip & Script^® for a Night of Leveling up your Calligraphy!

Join us at Indigo and Violet Studio in Chicago, Illinois for an afternoon of leveling up your calligraphy in our Level 02 class! In this workshop we will be taking a deeper dive into the basics of calligraphy we teach in our beginner classes. If you’ve taken a class of ours before this is the perfect “next steps” kind of class!

During this class, you will learn new basic drills to help you level up your calligraphy, mixing your own colored ink, the fundamentals of laying out a quote, and how to connect letters to form your own unique calligraphy style. If you loved our beginner class, come join us so you can “wow” all your friends this year with cards, envelopes, gift tags and more!

We will cover next steps in your calligraphy including new alphabets, flourishes and get you ready lay out a beautiful quote. The perfect crafty afternoon out!

Class includes 1.5 hours of instruction and demonstration, our intermediate calligraphy kit (new worksheets, tracing paper, nibs, oblique pen holder and an ink pot of colored calligraphy ink). Everything is yours to keep at the end of the class!

It is strongly suggested that you take a beginner modern calligraphy class before participating in this workshop. You will need a basic understanding of writing with a pen and nib to take this class. As long as you have taken our beginner class you are good to go!

Feel free to come early grab your seat! Indigo and Violet* Studio is a BYOB space. Glasses and Corkscrews available upon request.  Class will start promptly at 2:05PM! 

Class Expectations: Yes, lefties are welcome too! This class is encouraged for someone who has never taken a calligraphy class before. We teach the basics and our expectation for you is to have ink flowing through your nib with enough confidence to be able to practice way beyond class. We love using tracing paper with our guides to help you build muscle memory and develop your own style!  If you have tried calligraphy out before, this class will be a great refresher and hopefully a chance to try some new supplies from our beginner kit that will re-introduce you to this lovely form of art!

A note on bringing guests 16 and under: Though we love to share this passion with kids, this is a level 02 class (intermediate), and requires more skill and understanding of calligraphy retained from our beginner class. We recommend 13 years and older for this class. Additionally, you are welcome to get a ticket for your child as long as you are comfortable with people around them having a drink or two. We do ask that anyone under the age of 16 is to be accompanied by a ticketed adult at all times.
