Join us at Silk Rose Spa  in Alexandria, Virginia for pretty lettering! Whether you’re a spa lover, stationery nerd, DIY Bride-to-be, or just a crafty individual, you’ll be introduced to modern calligraphy with a pointed dip pen and ink in this workshop. We will cover all the basics and prepare you to add those unique lettered details to your fall/holiday spreads, snail mail, bar cart, hostess gifts, wedding paper goods, home decor, and more! The perfect crafty night out! You’ll get a “sweet surprise” from your instructor, so let’s have fun in the perfect night out. Be sure to shop the spa, Champagne is complimentary with a $20 purchase at the spa and you can purchase a charcuterie plate.

Class includes 1.5 hours of instruction and demonstration, our beginner’s calligraphy kit (two nibs, black ink pot, 2 letter guides, tracing paper and straight pen holder), and all materials to write on. Everything is yours to keep at the end of the workshop! Additionally, we will be lettering on faux pumpkins at the end of our class time!

Feel free to come early, grab your seat, to shop the spa. Champagne is complimentary with a $20 purchase at the spa and you can purchase a charcuterie plate. Class will start promptly at 6:00 (PM)! 

Parking: Silk Rose Spa is located at 6911 Richmond Hwy, a 4-story gray building with an uncovered parking lot. Please park anywhere except in reserved parking. The glass-door entrance to the building is facing Richmond Hwy. Once inside, take the elevator to the 4th floor we are located in Suite 405B.

Class Expectations: Yes, lefties are welcome too! This class is encouraged for someone who has never taken a calligraphy class before. We teach the basics, and our expectation for you is to have ink flowing through your nib with enough confidence to be able to practice way beyond class. We love using tracing paper with our guides to help you build muscle memory and develop your own style!  If you have tried calligraphy out before, this class will be a great refresher and hopefully a chance to try some new supplies from our beginner kit that will re-introduce you to this lovely form of art!

A note on bringing guests 16 and under: We love to share this passion with kids. You are welcome to get a ticket for your child if you are comfortable with people around them having a drink or two. We ask that a ticketed adult accompany anyone under the age of 16 at all times.
