Jen has always been drawn to pretty writing and while growing up, spent a lot of time experimenting with handwriting and fonts. This inevitably led to signing up for some calligraphy classes, practicing everyday, and becoming totally hooked on all things calligraphy.

She started She Made It Like That as a way to showcase the calligraphy she was learning but it has since snowballed into a boutique calligraphy and engraving design studio. Most of her work is wedding-related but she also does home decor and signage for small businesses.

She loves connecting with people and learning the details that will bring a piece to life to showcase those special parts of who they are. She’s always up for trying new things, from unusual surfaces like large paper parasols, ribbon, and coconuts, to engraving wine bottles or painting designs on fixed surfaces on-site.

Jen is a mom of 4 boys, and when not beautifying things with calligraphy, she can be found chauffeuring them between their activities, ideating new twists to family traditions, cooking gobs of delicious gluten-free foods, biking with her husband, or enjoying a bowl of ice cream once things have quieted down for the night.
