Throughout her life, Stacy has always gravitated towards creative hobbies—from playing musical instruments to drawing to scrapbooking. During her undergraduate college years at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, Stacy regularly created hand-drawn and hand-written advertisements for the student organizations she was involved in. Stacy graduated with a Bachelors of Education and continued to use art as a creative outlet while pursuing her Masters of Education at Kent State University in Ohio and working as a Residence Hall Director at Texas State University. In 2017, Stacy moved to Austin, Texas (which she now calls home today)!
In March 2018, her sister asked Stacy to be her maid of honor and tasked her to create all of the placecards, seating chart, and additional wedding signage. Although Stacy has always had neat and legible handwriting, she decided to learn calligraphy in order to make her big sister’s wedding day extra special. Stacy quickly picked up calligraphy styles (such as faux calligraphy, modern calligraphy, brush lettering, and watercolor calligraphy) that she learned through some FaceBook Live workshops from Small Town Love Letters. After completing these workshops, Stacy continued to practice and incorporate calligraphy in her every day life while using it to decorate her Passion Planner, incorporating calligraphy at her workplace, and using her calligraphy skills on homemade greeting cards to celebrate birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, etc. Stacy continued to use her calligraphy to complete her sister’s bachelorette party favors, to letter on the bottom of her sister’s wedding shoes, to create commissioned signs for her friends’ baking businesses, and to create placecards & signage for her best friend’s wedding. In 2020, Stacy not only expanded her calligraphy skills to pointed pen calligraphy, copperplate calligraphy, Spencerian Script, and digital calligraphy, but also started her business Unlost Calligraphy Co. in September. Today, Stacy loves to experiment with new calligraphy styles and mediums. She is thrilled to merge her past skills as a K-12 & collegiate educator with her love of calligraphy and she is excited to teach calligraphy to beginners at local venues in the Austin area and beyond!
When Stacy is not doing calligraphy, she can be found exploring the Austin food scene, cooking and baking, listening to music and going to concerts, watching TV and movies, traveling, and last but not least spending time with her dog Elsa.
