This class is for anyone who's never picked up a pen. We teach the basics, and our hope is you leave with ink flowing through your nib and the confidence to keep practicing. Tried it before? It's a great refresher with new supplies from our beginner kit.
Left-handed? You're very welcome. This class is designed with lefties in mind — we teach you to get ink flowing through your nib with confidence, whatever hand you use.
All students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult to our classes.
PLEASE NOTE: Some of our classes are held at 21+ establishments, so please read the class description before purchasing.
We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes before the start time to settle in. Seating is first come, first served within the venue.

Hey there! I’m TaNeisha, owner of Pretty in Ink! Maryland is where I call home, but I am a DC native (born and raised)! As a kid, I was always praised for my “penmanship,” and even at a young age, I had an affinity for certain paper and pens. The paper had to be smooth, and I preferred a fine point pen (.38 to be exact), and that has remained true to this day!
Calligraphy became my love in 2017. I took a class and was obsessed! I felt like I found my "thing." I found it soothing and relaxing with my glass of Cabernet Sauvignon – my escape, really. With technology and typing/texting being the default, calligraphy brings it back to the basics, and that's what I like.
Besides calligraphy, my loves are my daughter (my big baby), the gym, eating great food, traveling, and an Olivia Pope wine glass filled with the driest red!
