This class is for anyone who's never picked up a pen. We teach the basics, and our hope is you leave with ink flowing through your nib and the confidence to keep practicing. Tried it before? It's a great refresher with new supplies from our beginner kit.
Left-handed? You're very welcome. This class is designed with lefties in mind — we teach you to get ink flowing through your nib with confidence, whatever hand you use.
All students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult to our classes.
PLEASE NOTE: Some of our classes are held at 21+ establishments, so please read the class description before purchasing.
We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes before the start time to settle in. Seating is first come, first served within the venue.

Hi there, I’m Bethany! I’m a self taught calligrapher and engraver based in Austin, Texas. I’ve been obsessed with handwriting and font styles since we were kids in school still tracing dotted lines to practice letters. I remember thinking, “I can write this letter way prettier without having the follow the dotted lines.” If it could be written on, I was writing on it. I kept practicing and evolving my craft into different forms of calligraphy, various mediums, allll the different tools I could get my hands on, and even branching out into engraving. I loved being a part of all the special moments from birth announcements to wedding signage and everything in between and beyond so I started Silverbelly Calligraphy in the beginning of 2024 and wonder why I waited so long! By day, I work in healthcare operations and you can usually find me traveling with my husband, rooting for the Texas Longhorns, or spending time with our two puppies Max and Bailey.
