This class is for anyone who's never picked up a pen. We teach the basics, and our hope is you leave with ink flowing through your nib and the confidence to keep practicing. Tried it before? It's a great refresher with new supplies from our beginner kit.

Left-handed? You're very welcome. This class is designed with lefties in mind — we teach you to get ink flowing through your nib with confidence, whatever hand you use.

All students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult to our classes.

PLEASE NOTE: Some of our classes are held at 21+ establishments, so please read the class description before purchasing.

We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes before the start time to settle in. Seating is first come, first served within the venue.

Hi there, I'm Kim! I was born and raised in Seattle, WA, and I just love the Pacific Northwest. I've been doing calligraphy as a fun hobby for several years, and in 2021 started my small business, Soft Fern Studio. I do everything from addressing envelopes and turning letters or poems into wall art, to place cards and storefront windows for corporate clients. I love having the chance to use paper and a little bit of ink to create a lasting memory for someone, and I just love beautiful things! In my spare time you can find me baking, reading, and on most weekends I'm underwater, scuba diving in the chilly waters of the Puget Sound. I can't wait to say hi in person at one of my classes!
