Hi there! My name is Michael Lynn (two words, one first name) Sills and I am a Philly 'burbs based calligrapher. Lettering is my escape from the craziness of raising two sweet and sassy babes (Callaway and Ella Mae) alongside my ginger-haired hubby, AJ, and working full-time in the non-profit space. My first introduction to calligraphy was in 7th grade in an elective class and, although copperplate wasn't my thing, the practice of hand lettering definitely struck a cord and stuck with me. Fast forward many years later, I was living in Tampa, FL and noticed a local paper/writing store was hosting a modern calligraphy class. I grabbed one of my best gal pals and off we went (and again and again to any and all classes we could)! Super cliche, but the rest is history! My calligraphy journey, officially dubbed "Southern Mill Calligraphy", is documented via Instagram and, more recently, Facebook. "Southern Mill" is a nod to the street my husband and I bought our first house on (Southern Charm Drive) and the street I grew up on (Mill Street). Aside from my family and lettering, I love me a glass of red wine or a Corona (but only if it's in a glass with salt on the rim), a good book, running, and any dance floor that has solid beats and a fog machine. I'm so excited to be a part of the Sip and Script team and look forward sharing my love of calligraphy and hand lettering in and around Philadelphia!
