Beginner Calligraphy and Candle Making Workshop with Blank Mason, Skokie

Join Sip & Script® and Blank Mason for an Afternoon of Learning Calligraphy and Candle Making! 

Join us at Blank Mason in Skokie, IL for a fun workshop of both candle making and pretty lettering for beginners! In this 2 hour class you will both learn to craft a candle and learn pretty lettering to add to the vessel and so much more! We will first craft a custom 12 oz candle, learning from the professionals at Blank Mason on what scents will be perfect for you and your space! You will be able to select up to two of their 48 exquisite scents to blend in a provided candle vessel.

While the candles set, you will learn beginner pointed pen calligraphy. We will cover all the basics and get you ready to add those special lettered details to your candles label, and all your future crafty, DIY and lettering projects —the perfect crafty afternoon out!

Class includes candle vessel and instruction on candle making provided by Blank Mason, Sip and Script’s beginner’s calligraphy kit (two nibs, black ink pot, 2 letter guides, tracing paper and straight pen holder), instruction and all materials to write on. Everything is yours to keep at the end of the workshop!

Feel free to come early to browse the shop and grab your seat. Class will start promptly at 3:00pm! 

Class Expectations: Yes, lefties are welcome too! This class is encouraged for someone who has never taken a calligraphy class before. We teach the basics and our expectation for you is to have ink flowing through your nib with enough confidence to be able to practice way beyond class. We love using tracing paper with our guides to help you build muscle memory and develop your own style!  If you have tried calligraphy out before, this class will be a great refresher and hopefully a chance to try some new supplies from our beginner kit that will re-introduce you to this lovely form of art!

A note on bringing guests 16 and under: We love to share this passion with kids. You are welcome to get a ticket for your child as long as you are comfortable with people around them having a drink or two. We do ask that anyone under the age of 16 is to be accompanied by a ticketed adult at all times.
