Hi, there!

I am Sandra, the smiley face behind Kamuanya Designs, an illustration and calligraphy business based in Houston, TX. I married my best friend Dovelle and we have 3 fun and energetic boys, Micah (8), Gabriel (5), and Dominick(4). Being the only girl in the house means I get to sometimes hide away in my little home studio where I hoard all the art supplies and cutesy things!

I fell in love with calligraphy and hand-lettering when I discovered bullet journaling back in 2017. At the time, it was the only thing that brought me joy during a difficult season of postpartum depression. After teaching myself how to use different pens, nibs, brushes, and markers, I found my favorite way to use calligraphy is to enhance my illustrations with a verse, a quote, or just personalize them with a name.

I love coffee, wine, and traveling to see new places and meet different people. One of my hobbies is learning other languages and I currently speak seven of them! I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching movies or TV shows, and hosting game nights or dinner parties, but most of all, I love bringing a smile to someone else’s face!
